Contact Lens Fittings

Most people wear contact lenses as a form of eye care to protect their eyes and aid their vision. If you're one of them, then you know how frustrating finding a pair that fits perfectly can be. Thankfully, Dr. Jamie Reid of Helena Vision Care in Helena, AL, is here to help.

Your Vision Remains Consistent Throughout the Day

If you've ever had to deal with contact lenses that feel uncomfortable after a few hours, then you know how important this point is. Dr. James Reid recommends checking to see if your vision remains consistent when wearing the lenses for an extended period of time.

Even the slightest visual distortion means that your contacts don't fit correctly. Schedule an appointment with your optometrist to get a new pair.

You Can't Feel Them in Your Eyes

This is another big one. If you can feel your contact lenses in your eyes, then they definitely don't fit right. An ideal pair should be so comfortable that you forget you're wearing them.

If this isn't the case for you, then it's time to head back to the drawing board and find a new pair.

Otherwise, your eyes might get irritated or turn red, which is never a good look.

Your Barely Experience Rotation or Displacement

When you blink, your contact lenses should barely move. If they rotate or shift out of place, then they don't fit right. This can be extremely irritating and cause all sorts of problems, including dry eyes.

If this is happening to you, maybe you should try a different brand or material. You might also need to size up or down. An eye exam by a licensed optometrist should be able to find the perfect size of contact lenses for your eyes.

Why Are Perfectly Fitting Contacts So Important?

It's hard to overlook the importance of perfectly fitting contact lenses, especially if you have to wear them all day. Not only are they uncomfortable, but poorly fitting contact lenses can also cause a number of eye problems. These include dry eyes, redness, and even corneal abrasions. In extreme cases, you might even experience an infection.

Only Settle for Contacts That Fit Perfectly

Now that you know how to tell if your contact lenses fit perfectly, it's time to do something about it. Dr. Jamie Reid and the team of eye care experts at Helena Vision Center will help you find the right contacts for your eyes. Don't suffer through another day of poor vision or uncomfortable contact lenses.
